Podcast SummaryViva La Revolucion! Viva Hawaii! About El SargentoI was made in Mexico sometime back in 1978... I don't remember the exact date- time is irrelevant when you're coming out of a hole the size of a lemon. I was crossed over from Mexico at the age of three months, it might have been an illegal crossing, I really don't remember, all I remember is getting on a canoe... but that's neither here nor there. I grew up in a dusty town in West Texas, you know- the place that's mentioned in "Friday Night Lights". Anyways, after doing my dirt since the age of 15, I decided to part ways with a lifestyle that was sure to land me in jail, the cemetery or deported... so I joined the military at the age of 19 and never looked back. I've been through alot since then: got married at the age of 20, had a son at 21, got divorced at 24 and moved to Hawaii at 27. Although I've been a medic in the military this whole time, I've always had a passion for business, I got involved with sales at the age of 22, started promoting events at night clubs at the age of 26, and landed my own all Spanish radio show at the age of 27. The radio show has probably been the highlight of my business career, I came across the opportunity three months after arriving in Hawaii. The cool thing about it was the fact that I actually leased the airtime from a radio station that catered to Fillipino's in order to broadcast my all Spanish Radio Show where I played the Hottest Latin music, see, there are no Spanish Radio stations in Hawaii- so I did what I had to do for my peeps... even if it was on an AM frequency. (According to the 2004 Census report there are well over 100,000 Latinos in Hawaii!) The radio show lasted 6 months, the AM radio frequency was sold, and I moved on to start www.AlohaLatinos.com, a website that I've slowly been putting together for the Latino community of Hawaii. I've also been workin on other projects and have been hella busy rubbing elbows with the local government- I was a Spanish translator during Governor Lingles re-election campaign. On top of that, I've landed a second radio show, this time I'll be on Hot 93.9 FM playing the hottest Reggaeton and Latin Hip Hop, so if you live in Hawaii be on the lookout for the Aloha Latinos show debuting in late 2006/early 2007, and also the Aloha Latinos Magazine will be dropping it's first issue in Fall of '07!
